Fascinated by stylistic devices in advertising and lettering signage and printed detritis since day one. The manners of visual communication were a  important place in connoting information. Adding the qualities of the applied arts in European antiquity and contemporary design so radical to the midwestern American experience, only fertilized  the imagination and skillsets developing in Berry, an essentially self taught artist and student of art history and design.  Limited edition large scale posters in combination serigraphy and spray can stencils have become collectors items , that feature the inspiring talents of the rising bands: the Replacements, SoulAsylum, Fred Frith, Skeleton Crew, Dead Milkmen, CamperVan Beethoven, DEVO, Richard Thompson,  and a host of others from his initial recreation of the place of posters in popular culture in the 1970s from his iconic poster design recreating Americana in the Midwest. Calligraphy, fonts and nostalgia and humor.
Later contributions to this milieu would occur internationally in Europe  in the 1980s, with the branding design of imagery-iconic fro the times in Amsterdam on the Kerkstraat at a progressive avant garde style emporium called the hairpolice/ZX which featured all varities of  any rainbow colored hair extensions and fashion long before it became popular in the mainstream international culture. The inspiration for this design venture? It was to go back in time into antiquity and faux water stained attics and mystic masonic type secret space where the icons were 9-volt batteries and common potatoes sent up in iconic style. You may recall that batteries were central to the boombox and early hip hop culture.
